Forget Me Not

Project type

Fine Art

Date

2024

36 x 36" Acrylic on Canvas
Graphic, abstract, and as bold as ancient history.
Jerusalem is revered as the spiritual epicenter of the world, believed to be the origin of creation.
This artwork presents an aerial view of the historic walled city of Jerusalem while at the same time featuring a profiled silhouette that represents the individual's experience within a particular time and context.
Stark contrasts of black and a buffed white shade (reminiscent of Jerusalem stone), with graphic, jagged edges emphasize not only underlying tensions, but the conflict of individual in time and place.
The target symbol marks the location of the Holy of Holies, but also the eye of the soul in the silhouette.
‘Forget Me Not’ explores the relationship between societal unrest and personal identity. It encourages viewers to consider how external factors shape individual behavior, emphasizing the need for mindfulness and advocating for compassion among individuals.
