The Old City of Jerusalem has been depicted in many ways.  Here, the artist’s goal was to create an abstraction of the city, so she decided on an aerial view.  The quadrants of separation are there, but contained whole, with intended tensions.  The holy of holies is a center off-center, as current events contradict ancient values. 
The piece also suggests a subtle silhouette, inviting the viewer to relate the inner battles we all face to the external geopolitical battles that surround us.
